Are pedestrian injuries reducing each year in Iowa?

Did you know that in 2012, there were 726 bicyclists and 4,743 pedestrians killed in the United States in crashes with motor vehicles? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has also pointed out several other facts that you may want to use to help support your pedestrian accident case. While you certainly aren't simply a statistic, this kind of information can be provided as evidence to make a compelling case.

The total number of people killed in pedestrian and motor vehicle crashes adds up to over 12 people per day of the year. Fortunately, the number of people being killed in these accidents has been dropping over time, but in 2012 alone, 76,000 people reported being injured in a pedestrian accident. That is one injury every 7 minutes.

After a pedestrian accident, you need to report it. It's been claimed that the numbers above may not be accurate due to people not reporting their crashes and injuries. If the crash isn't reported by police, then it won't be studied or added to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

There are strides being made in pedestrian safety, although the reduction in injuries and deaths is slow. Between 2001 and 2012, the number of injuries only reduced by 2.5 percent, a drop in the bucket of injuries people have suffered.

Even though the number of deaths and injuries pedestrians have suffered are dropping each year, it doesn't make your situation any less serious. If you've been struck by a car or other kind of vehicle, you deserve to be compensated for the crime. With some help, you can take the legal steps necessary to file a claim.
