What are some statistics about drunk driving in Iowa?

In Iowa, there are some drunk driving statistics that are important to know. For instance, in 2012, there were 106 people killed due to alcohol-related crashes. By looking at a chart of several years, it's easy to see that the number of alcohol-related fatalities have dropped, although they did rise by a few deaths between 2010 and 2012.

In these crashes, the blood alcohol concentration of one of the drivers was at least 0.08 or above, making them legally impaired. Some of the data included in the chart also included the deaths of those who were pedestrians or bicyclists at the time of the accident, although it doesn't state who was drunk at the time of the crashes.

There are some criminal DUI laws in Iowa you should know about. For example, a first offense for driving under the influence of alcohol is a serious misdemeanor. For a second offense, the driver will be held accountable for an aggravated misdemeanor. If the driver has been stopped for the third time or instances beyond that, then the offense is considered to be a Class D felony.

Drunk driving accidents can leave people with serious injuries or disabilities, or they could result in fatalities. If you've been involved in a drunk driving accident, you have the right to seek justice. If you've been hurt or lost a loved one, you may be able to collect compensation to cover your monetary needs. Whether you need money to cover your expenses while you're off work or need to pay for a funeral you weren't expecting, a lawsuit against the negligent party can help you get what you need.
