1 injured in distracted driving incident near university

When a person is driving near a university or other educational institute, it's important for that driver to be as present as possible. The driver should not be looking away from the roads; these areas have a high number of pedestrians who could be impacted by a distracted driver.

A distracted driver was responsible for an accident in Iowa that left a young woman injured. Fortunately, her injuries were not life threatening. If you're in a similar position and are hurt or lose a loved one to a driver who wasn't watching the road, it's important to look into the ways you can seek out the compensation you deserve.

In the case in Iowa, the pedestrian was taken to the hospital following an accident south of the Iowa State University campus. The story reports that the person had been crossing Lincoln Way in the morning when a vehicle collided with her as she walked into the crosswalk. The 20-year-old woman was crossing at around 10:20 a.m. when the southbound vehicle hit her. The vehicle was driven by a 22-year-old woman who had apparently been distracted from the road.

According to the Ames police commander, the woman stopped her vehicle immediately after striking the woman, staying at the scene and cooperating with police. The victim suffered minor injuries but had to be hospitalized following the accident.

The woman driving the vehicle has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian, because it's been found that the pedestrian had a white walk signal. The driver had been looking at her phone at the time of the collision.
