Fatal accident trial heads to court in Iowa after deaths of 2

There's no reason you should ever be at risk of injury because a driver is behind the wheel while intoxicated. Drunk driving is prohibited by law, but some people still choose to push their bodies' limits, putting themselves and others at risk. That's what happened in this case in Iowa, where an alleged drunk driver hit another vehicle and killed two people. A third person in the second vehicle was injured.

According to the news, the 24-year-old allegedly-drunken driver had been speeding along Brady Street at 2 a.m. when he hit the other vehicle. There were allegedly no signs of him slowing down before the impact, meaning all the speed and weight of the vehicle was enough to violently impact the other car. The other car was so badly damaged that the rear passenger seat was pushed all the way to the front of the vehicle.

The 24-year-old man accused of being intoxicated was shown to have a blood alcohol level of over twice the legal limit, according to the prosecution. The area had been a 35-mph zone, but the prosecution claims the man had been driving at 68 mph.

The defense for the case has claimed that the person driving the second vehicle, a man who died following the accident, had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit as well. The defense has suggested that all the facts should be known before ruling based on emotion, however there are facts working against the 24-year-old man, like the fact that he was previously involved in another fatal accident in which his passenger was killed.
